Are you ready, Sigal Chattah?

Are you ready to face the withering questions and examination that you’ll get from these members who make up the US Senate Judiciary Committee — questions that will likely come from both the Majority Members (Republicans) as well as the Minority Members (Democrats)?

Are you ready to face them and answer to the questionable judgment and relationships we’ve documented here? (And by the way, there’s more to come.)

You will not be shepherded through this process by your Nevada Senators, who both have attacked your interim appointment as the US Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Here’s what Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen (D) said about your interim appointment:

“Nevada needs a U.S. Attorney who will uphold and enforce the law fairly and equally. Sigal Chattah is an extremist who is deeply unfit for this role,” said Senator Rosen. “Chattah’s disturbing past statements promising to use any public office to go after her political opponents, as well as her well-documented history of racist remarks, conspiracy theories, and threats of violence, prove that she cannot be trusted with this important responsibility. If she’s ever nominated to a permanent Senate-confirmed position, I’ll do everything in my power to block her confirmation.”

Here’s what Nevada Senator Catharine Cortez Masto (D) said about your interim appointment:

“Sigal Chattah said our Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford should be hanged from a crane. She is an election denier who has advocated for political violence, suggested she would target her political enemies, and offered full support to many of President Trump’s blatantly illegal actions in office. U.S. Attorneys should be professionals who stand against corruption, serve as agents for justice, and understand that no one is above the law.
“President Trump is abusing his power and bypassing Congress to insert a partisan political operative into this position because he knows Nevada’s Senators will not support her. U.S. Attorneys work for the American people, and it has been a tradition for every new administration – including during President Trump’s first term – to work with Nevada Senators to nominate and appoint a qualified candidate. By law, this appointment can only last 120 days. To all the dedicated public servants working in the District of Nevada, I will continue to support you and will fight to make sure we confirm a U.S. Attorney with integrity and a commitment to the rule of law.”

Ouch.

So it’s a big strikeout on sponsorship from Senators from your home state. Maybe you’ll say that’s to be expected. They’re both lefty Democrats. It’s partisan.

However, I hear that even those on the right — especially the Senator who you might expect to be your sponsor as you begin this confirmation process, Mike Lee (R) from Utah, is distancing himself from you. Senator Lee also happens to be among the Majority Members on the Senate panel.

It’s my opinion that anyone reading this blog would have cause for concern about your permanent appointment to that position. The search for a more appropriate person to become the new US Attorney for the District of Nevada is very likely underway. I can think of at least a half dozen more qualified people to be placed in that position full time.

I imagine this upcoming confirmation process for you might feel something like being trapped in a big vise, unable to escape and feeling the clamps getting tighter and tighter and tighter as you’re unable to squirm away.

Yes, you have an ally in FBI Director Kash Patel — for now. But how long will that last given the documentation we’ve produced here about how unfit you are to assume this office as the Trump Administration permanent appointment to the office of US Attorney for the District of Nevada?

Enjoy your interim appointment, Sigal. That’s likely all this ever will amount to; perhaps a notch on your resume or a line item on your Linkedin profile.
